Politician Nazlin Umar is demanding Sh150 million for reconstructive surgery from a businessman she claims to be her husband.
Ms Umar filed an urgent application at the High Court on Thursday seeking a further Sh3 billion from Mr Chatur Madatali as security for the case she instituted against him last year.
She filed a case last year seeking a monthly maintenance of Sh2.2 million and Sh250 million dowry from Mr Madatali.
She claimed the businessman married her on September 27, 2010, under the Islamic Sharia law.
But she in the meantime wants the court to order Mr
Madatali to pay for the reconstructive surgery of the joints that
hinges the lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull.
The amount will also cover her travel and accommodation costs.
In the event that the businessman fails to pay her, she says, the court should order his banks to release the money.
The politician also wants the court to stop the businessman from leaving the country until the case is finalised.
She wants Mr Madatali arrested and charged with several offences, including assault, threatening to kill, theft, and conspiracy.
The businessman, however, accuses Ms Umar of disguising the maintenance orders, which she is seeking in the initial case.
He argues that she has failed to explain why he should be made to deposit Sh3 billion and his passport in court.
He says that the politician has made weird
allegations in her application and psychiatric examination may be
necessary to ascertain her sanity.
“The applicant is by her conduct an extortionist, a
gold digger and believes in reaping where she has not sown,” Mr
Madatali says.
Mr Justice Fred Ochieng fixed the hearing for April 26.
