Mr Aubakar Essuman, Head of Human Resource Department, Access Bank, has observed that creativity, innovative and imaginative skills should be the hallmark of every good entrepreneur.
He said entrepreneurship was a novel way of making organisations more profitable where imaginative employees entertained entrepreneurial thoughts and a significant method for companies to re-invent themselves and improve performance.
Mr Essuman made the observation at a Career Guidance and Counselling workshop, organised by Ghana Muslim Mission Youth (GMMY) as part of its programme lined up for the year to educate members on opportunities available to entrepreneurs.
He explained that to become a successful entrepreneur, it was important to be a strategic thinker, who would always think on long term issues, be transformational as well, being flexible and having an adoptable mindset.
“Entrepreneurs must be goal oriented, result driven, be committed to the corporate values of the organisation they find themselves, be self motivated, a fast learner, responsible, trustworthy and smart in appearance and an excellent communicator,†he added.
Mr Mahmoud Bill, Member of Ghana Muslim Mission said an entrepreneur was a key person who envisaged new opportunities, techniques, lines of production, products and coordinates all other activities.
He said: “Envisaging new opportunities should lead one into chatting with expects on the opportunities, conducting research into it, building a team, creating the business and then developing an appropriate business plan.â€
Mr Bill urged the youth not to resort to the banks or micro finance companies when trying to start a new business, but rather seek for support from family, friends, people who were ready to take risk in their ideas and then from government grants.
Mr Jeleela Aryea, Greater Accra Regional Chairperson of GMMY said the workshop formed part of their programme line up for the year and urged members to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more and practice what they would be taught.
